I am now a Reform County Councillor, and I am standing for Reform at the upcoming Lancashire County Council elections on the 1st of May.
I support Reform because the political establishment has become totally out of touch with the concerns of ordinary people. Neither Labour nor the Conservatives can be trusted to listen to the electorate or tackle the long-term issues facing our country, from the economy to immigration and the lack of opportunities for young people.
In Lancashire, we need new leadership to focus on improving our highways infrastructure, ensuring better services in rural areas, supporting adult social care and children’s services, and making sure Lancashire is not left behind in our increasingly London-centric and dysfunctional economy.
I have always championed local concerns and have become increasingly disillusioned by overdevelopment in the Wyre area. It has become clear that our planning system primarily serves the needs of developers at different levels of local government. It is time that residents have more of a say in how their local communities are impacted by political decisions, rather than feeling they have no voice. Reform will enable us to have that say and do what is best for our communities.
MY PRIORITIES
VOTE REFORM TO SAVE OUR ROADS
With new leadership at Lancashire County Council, we can invest in our highways, resurface our crumbling roads, and reduce the number of potholes. The road network is essential to all our lives, whether we are travelling to work, meeting friends and family, or transporting goods for businesses. For too long, our highways have not been treated as a priority. Reform will make improving the roads our focus.
SUPPORT OUR RURAL COMMUNITIES
I am passionate about the village communities in our area. Whether you live in Knott End, Preesall, Pilling, Eagland Hill, Forton, Hollins Lane, Winmarleigh, Great Eccleston, St Michael’s-on-Wyre, or Inskip with Sowerby, I know each of our communities has its own character and charm. We need to ensure the best services possible to support both young and older people. From buses to adult social care, education to flooding, I have always used my voice at County Council to speak up for rural areas.
I AM OPPOSED TO THE PREESALL QUARRY
I was opposed to Halite gas storage in Over-Wyre, and I was opposed to fracking in Roseacre. I listened to residents concerned about the impacts of these proposals on local businesses, properties, roads, and our way of life, given the unsuitable locations. I promise I will always do what I believe is best for our communities.
